Embracing Voices chronicles Canadian jazz luminary Jane Bunnett’s epic journey out of a dark personal and professional depression to win a Juno (2009 Best Contemporary Jazz Record). We follow Jane from her cottage in Northern Ontario, to Cuba, and then to Banff as she orchestrates the project of a lifetime, a jazz-voice collaboration with Afro-Cuban artists Desandann, as a last ditch effort to reconnect her not only with her music, but her joie de vivre. A meditation on art, aging, and reconciliation, Embracing Voices gives an intimate glimpse into this enigmatic artist, and her struggle to persevere.
